Camping Tips

Although summer hasn’t officially begun, many families are already taking advantage of the warmer weather and are heading to the nearest campsite. Staycations have become increasingly popular, and a love of the great outdoors never goes out of style, so grab your tent, sleeping bags, ice chest, fishing gear, and a few essential oils to enjoy the BEST camping experience ever!

Essential Oils for the Outdoors
1. Lemon–after you catch THE fish, add some lemon oil to it while grilling it. YUM.
2. Lavender–chances are someone in the group will get a bit sunburned. Lavender soothes sun-stressed skin.
3. TerraShield–yes, there are bugs in the outdoors. TerraShield will keep the critters away :)
4. On Guard wipes–showers are a luxury, and may not be accessible at your campsite. It helps to at least be able to wipe the dirt off hands and feet.
5. Melaleuca–this anti-fungal oil is always useful to have on hand. Using tweezers to remove splinters? Disinfect them with melaleuca oil.
6. Frankincense–for any emergencies (cuts, bruises, bleeding), this is the oils to use!

  1. TerraShield makes camping fun again! Before, Bugs thought my kids were a buffet table! Now, we put TerraShield in the diffuser (after we find a plug and an extension cord!), and the bugs stay away all evening. For the times that I forgot to put TerraShield on the kids, a little Melaleuca on the bug or tick bite helps it heal faster and has kept away Lime’s disease (which is bad this year). Our neighbors who are hesitant about essential oils have had several cases of Lime’s disease already. Thanks doTerra!

  2. My favorite summer oil is now TerraShield. Living in the hot humid south the insects are large and you can’t out run them. I’ve been using Terrashield on my family and bugs-begone! My 5 year old grandson even said “this smells good” and now won’t go outside until his oil is on.(he has extremely sensitive skin and no reaction to Terrashield). Thanks DoTerra for making an insect repellant that won’t harm anyone.
