The Decision to Quit Smoking

I made the decision to quit smoking on November 17, 2010. As a 31 year-old and an Independent Product Consultant for dōTERRA, I felt it was time and the right choice. The oils, I believed, would help me quit smoking. Each time I had the urge to smoke, and it happened a lot, I put a drop of Clove and a drop of On Guard essential oil directly on my tongue. I continued doing this for a week. Then I chose to use only OnGuard. Today, approximately one month after I chose to quit smoking, I use OnGuard throat drops whenever I have the urge to smoke. These urges have drastically decreased from when I first began, and I have not had a cigarette since November 17, 2010.

Smokers may be aware that the other difficulty faced is your temper. When a smoker misses their cigarette, they can become easily irritated and moody. In my home we have a dōTERRA diffuser, and in that diffuser I place Lavender and Serenity. It has been a great lift to my spirits and allows me to relax. I believe that my diffuser saved me from sleepless nights as I began my journey to become smoke free. I highly recommend it to others who are trying to quit smoking.

  4. I tried this exact method. It did not work for me. The cigarettes actually taste pretty good with onguard. LOL I guess it just isn’t my time.

  5. @Martin – this is awesome. I am passing it along to others.
@Elizabeth – The key with the EOs is really finding what works best for YOU. You definitely have to play around with them. Getting scanned with the Compass scanner helps as well. A good time for you to be scanned might be when you are have the urge to smoke. I know that for me, with my depression, the oils that worked for loads of my friends did NOT work at all for me. I refer to Wild Orange as my crack, whereas a FEW of my friends use Balance. It just takes some trial and error. You can do it. :) It’s your time when you say it is.
