Tis the Season for Holiday Recipes
The temperature is dropping, the snowflakes are falling, and it’s time to start ringing in the holidays! What better way to welcome the holidays than by baking some delicious goodies for family and friends? These yummy recipes that incorporate essential oils were submitted by our IPC friends Phillip Bruttig and Cathy Kolesar.
GINGERBREAD MEN
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 egg, beaten
4 1/2 – 5 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
5 drops dōTERRA Ginger Essential Oil
5 drops dōTERRA Cinnamon Essential Oil
1/4 tsp. salt
Put butter in large bowl. Heat molasses until boiling. Pour molasses over butter and sugar. Add vinegar and stir until well blended. Set aside to cool. When cool, add egg and oils. Sift dry ingredients together. Add dry ingredients to molasses mixture and blend until mixture is smooth. Chill dough in covered container for several hours. Roll dough on well floured surface and cut with gingerbread man cutter. Place men on greased cookie sheet and bake 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees.
HOLIDAY PEPPERMINT COOKIES
1 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
3 c. all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
6 drops dōTERRA Peppermint Essential Oil
1/2 c. crushed candy canes
5 tsp. warm water
3/4 c. confectioner’s sugar
Heat oven to 350 degrees. In medium bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and creamy. Add egg and beat until blended. Stir in flour and salt, then the crushed candy. Add red food coloring to dough if desired. Roll 1 tablespoon of dough into ball. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake cookies 8 to 10 minutes until firm. Cool on sheet for 1 minute. Transfer to wire rack to finish cooling. Mix water and confectioner’s sugar together to form icing. Dip top of each cooled cookie in icing (sprinkle with additional crushed candy, if desired) and allow to dry. Yields approximately 48 cookies.

Another simple but delicious recipe – Chocolate Ganache:
3/4 cup heavy cream
8 oz dark choc chips or chopped bulk chocolate
Bring cream to a boil in saucepan. Remove from heat, stir in chocolate til almost melted. Cover, let sit 10 mins. Stir until smooth, adding 2-5 drops of your favorite oil (wild orange is divine, so is peppermint) Thickens as it cools. This amazing ganache can be a hot fudge sauce, a glaze, a filling or frosting, and is fabulous just by the spoonful! Reheat to thin. Keeps at cool room temp 3 days, a week in the fridge and 3 mos in the freezer.

I’ve just started using doterra oils in my massages and my clients are loving them. I’ve been telling them about these great holiday recipes that the oils can be used in and they are all excited to try them. I can’t wait to try them my self and make them for all my neighbors.

sorry to be dumb, but when do you actually add the oils? Is it when heating molasses, or adding a vinegar, or mixing dry ingredients and molasses mixture..? I would appreciate the advise. Thank you

Can these recipes be made into gluten and/or diary free recipes? I’m just starting on this path.

The oils can be added to liquids for easing mixing. In this particular recipe, please add with the egg.
